United States Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) met with leaders from Brunswick County's Flow Sciences, Inc., in early September while he was nearby for the dedication of Wilmington as a World War II Heritage City.
Flow Sciences was a recipient of a Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan, a federal funding relief initiative offered through the CARES Act to help with the COVID-19 pandemic financial impacts.
The senator told WECT he's been meeting with North Carolina business owners to get details about the PPP program, as legislators continue talks about future funding.
"[Those businesses] have all said the same thing," Tillis said, WCT reported in the September article. "The Paycheck Protection Program saved their businesses, and it also gave them [the] confidence to figure out how to work with a very different business environment today."
The senator said some businesses were not well served by the PPP program or CARES Act, and that additional relief legislation should be tailored to help those businesses.
