TOWN OF DAVIDSON: Early Voting Begins Today! Mecklenburg County Board of Elections shares key voting information

Vote

Town of Davidson issued the following announcement on Oct. 15.

Beginning today, Thursday, October 15, 2020 at 8:00 a.m., citizens of Davidson have options for early voting at the following area locations:

  • Cornelius Town Hall
  • Hough High School
  • North Mecklenburg High School
  • North Regional Library
Early voting hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. until 7:30 p.m., Saturdays 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., and Sundays 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Citizens have the choice to vote at any of 33 early voting sites in Mecklenburg County, but the four noted above are the closest for Davidson residents.  During early voting, citizens can register to vote, vote inside, vote curbside (if disabled or ill), or drop off their completed absentee/mail-in ballot.  For the safety of voters and staff, voters are asked to wear a mask, maintain at least 6 feet of social distancing, and use hand sanitizer which will be provided before entering the polling place and also upon leaving.  All poll workers will wear personal protective equipment, and voting machines will be wiped down after each voter.  In addition, each voter will be given a stylus for hands free ballot marking using the voting machine. Both voters’ and poll workers’ safety are important during this process.

Election Day

Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2020, and on that date, voters are required to vote at their assigned polling place (precinct).  Voters may vote curbside (if disabled or ill) or in person.  Unlike early voting, voters must already be registered to vote—there will not be same day registration, nor can voters drop off absentee/mail in ballots.  Absentee/mail-in ballots must be mailed and postmarked by 5:00 pm on Election Day.

Voting hours for Election Day are 6:30 am – 7:30 pm.  All safety precautions as outlined for early voting will be observed.

Davidson residents previously assigned to vote at Davidson Town Hall have a new voting location at the Davidson K-8 school.

Citizens in need of more information can contact the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections via their website: www.mecknc.gov/BOE.
