Lenoir Rhyne University issued the following announcement on November 11.

As America celebrates Veterans Day, several veteran students are making their impact at Lenoir-Rhyne University. Their years of service provide a depth of experience to the Bear community, and their lives enrich the communities in which they live. As a military-friendly school, LR provides various GI Bill benefits to support the students’ efforts toward their bachelor’s degree.

Anthony Guy

After high school, veteran student Anthony Guy initially served in the United States Navy. He completed another 11 years of service, most recently as a combat engineer, including a deployment to Iraq after 9/11. After surviving an explosion and being medically discharged, Guy uses his military benefits to pursue a degree in nursing and will graduate in May 2022. Transitioning from her service in the Navy to higher education, Amy Sain worked as a Master-at-Arms, or MP, at the Naval Air Station Oceana, located in Virginia Beach. She was responsible for law enforcement, investigations and even conducted anti-terrorism protection operations. With sights on a future career in pharmaceuticals or even more education, he is working toward a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry in May 2023.
