The awards will cover Spring 2022 semester tuition, fees and books for Guardado and Morales as they pursue degrees in music and accounting, respectively, in the School of WDA.

“On behalf of the School of Workforce Development and the Arts, it is our sincere honor to extend financial support for Jeffrey and Karla in Spring Semester 2022,” said Dr. Jeff Penley, CVCC School of WDA Special Advisor and Senior Professor for Technical and University Transfer Programs. “Both Jeffrey and Karla are repeat recipients of this funding. We carefully evaluate each candidate for merit, and the fact that Jeffrey and Karla are receiving our financial support for yet another semester is a testament to their impeccable character and outstanding academic performance.”

Guardado was nominated for the award by CVCC AFA Music Director Caroline Simyon, and Morales was nominated by Director of Accounting and Business Programs Christy Lefevers.

“I am so excited that the CVCC Foundation is providing strong support for Karla and Jeffrey,” said Gary Muller, Dean of CVCC’s School of WDA. “Jeffrey is a very skilled musician and Karla has excellent command of accounting. We are confident that they will succeed in their chosen fields, and that they will be lifelong ambassadors for our quality program offerings here at Catawba Valley Community College.”
