City of Lincolnton issued the following announcement on January 15.
Preparations for the winter storm are in place, be prepared for freezing temps and snow mixed with ice...
The City of Lincolnton is under a Winter Storm Warning from midnight tonight through Sunday night and into Monday. City staff has been busy preparing in advance of the weather.
Please DO NOT park any vehicles on the streets so snowplows and city equipment can operate. Vehicles on the streets may be "snowed in" depending on snow accumulations.
Our crews are on standby to respond to power outages or water system disruptions and restore service as fast as safely possible. If you lose power, do not use a generator or camp stove inside a closed area.
Driving will be dangerous due to snow mixed with ice: please do not drive unless absolutely necessary. First responders will be answering emergency calls and expect to be busy.
Monday 1/17 is the MLK holiday, and there will not be any solid waste collection; the route schedule for the week is revised.
Stay safe, stay warm.
