City of Lincolnton issued the following announcement on January 17.

All city offices & facilities closed and no solid waste collection on Tuesday 1/18 due to winter storm Izzy.

Thankfully, the City of Lincolnton and Lincoln County haven't had any significant impacts due to Winter Storm Izzy. The Winter Storm Warning for our area has been extended until 8am Tuesday morning, 1/18. The forecast for tonight calls for more sustained freezing temperatures. This will refreeze any moisture on the ground making driving conditions on Tuesday dangerous until it warms up enough to melt the “black ice”.

Due to road conditions, all city offices and facilities will be closed on Tuesday, January 18. City crews will be clearing streets and cleaning up storm damage on Tuesday and the solid waste collection schedules have been revised.

There will not be any solid waste collection on Tuesday, January 18. The Monday route will be collected on Wednesday, the Tuesday route will be picked up on Thursday and both the Wednesday and Thursday routes will be collected on Friday.

If you don’t have to drive on Tuesday morning, don’t. We hope everyone is staying warm and safe.

Further updates will be issued as necessary.
