We've gotten reports from some city utility customers about phone calls threatening service disconnection or offering a refund for overpayment and instructing them to press a number to get their refund or make a payment. THIS IS A SCAM, please hang up if you receive one of these calls!
The Lincolnton Utility Billing department will NOT call you and ask you to press a number to receive a refund or make a payment to avoid disconnection. Always be skeptical of incoming calls like this from any source, they are usually spam and a scam.
