Rep. Jason Saine (R-Lincoln) met with public and charter schools in Lincoln County in late July to learn about preparations for the academic year as districts locally and statewide adjust to instruction in a COVID-19 world.
The Republican representative said in a Facebook post on July 31 about the encounter that "though everyone is frustrated to varying degrees, it is also a tremendous opportunity to innovate and it is wonderful to see how our leaders in education are stepping up to make good things happen."
Saine met with school administrators, staff members to discuss the JumpStart program, summer camps and difficulties that are present and might appear this academic year.
Though not connected to the meetings at the schools in Lincoln County, the Republican lawmaker also highlighted in a separate Facebook post on Aug. 6 that the Legislature has allocated more than $2 billion in COVID-19 relief funds, with approximately $210 million going to K-12 education.
