Newton-Conover City Schools issued the following announcement on February 14.
The NC Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) recently updated the Strong Schools NC Toolkit for COVID-19 protocols. Effective Monday, February 21, 2022, individual contact tracing and exclusion from school of asymptomatic people after an identified exposure is no longer recommended statewide in K-12 schools.
Catawba County Public Health’s School Nurses will continue to notify parents of possible exposures at the class, group, or team level so that individuals may monitor for symptoms, but students and staff will no longer be required to quarantine from school due to exposure, and individual exposure notification will no longer be made.
Students and staff who are symptomatic or who test positive for COVID-19 will continue to follow the protocol of 5 days isolation followed by an additional 5 days of strict mask wearing upon returning to school.

Additionally, due to the rapid decrease in the need for COVID-19 testing, StarMed is reducing their clinic schedule for testing at the Fred T. Foard and Bandys High School sites.
Starting today, February 14, one clinic per week will be hosted, changing locations on alternating weeks. Testing will continue to occur on alternating Mondays at Fred T. Foard High School and on Thursdays at Bandys.
