Diversity

Governor Roy Cooper has announced the appointment of Avery Staley, Vice President for the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, the Office of Human Resources, and the Office of Multicultural Affairs, to the North Carolina Internship Council. He will act as the representative for a college/university with less than 5,000 students.

“Since joining Lenoir-Rhyne last year, Avery has made strides in our diversity, equity and inclusion efforts,” shared Dr. Fred Whitt, university president. “His leadership has been critical on our campus and I have no doubt he will make a positive impact for many more students as part of the council.”

The North Carolina Internship Council meets annually to determine the appropriateness of state agency intern project proposals and to screen student applications for internships.

Staley is one of three newly appointed members to the council by the Governor. Joining him will be Dr. Britt Davis, Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Senior Advisor to the President at Campbell University, and Cheryl J. Hicks, Associate Director, Career Coach, and Diversity & Inclusion Programs Manager for the Office of Personal & Career Development at Wake Forest University.

Members of the council will serve a two-year term beginning July 1 and meet in the fall and winter.
