ECU Honors College welcomes 20 new EC Scholars
2026 Cohort
This fall, 20 students will step onto East Carolina University’s campus as members of the newest cohort of EC Scholars, pursuing majors ranging from art and music to nursing and biology.
This year’s EC Scholars hail from 10 counties in North Carolina as well as Florida and Ohio. They bring a variety of experiences and knowledge to campus including tutoring, leadership, activism and research.
Housed in the Honors College, EC Scholars is the most prestigious undergraduate award program offered at ECU. The four-year merit scholarship recognizes outstanding academic performance, commitment to community engagement and strong leadership skills. Recipients receive an Honors College scholarship and a stipend for study abroad for a total value of nearly $64,000.
The selection process involved around 100 ECU faculty and multiple rounds of review. Finalists were selected from approximately 900 applications and were invited to visit ECU’s campus in February for Selection Sunday. This event allowed them to learn more about the program and meet with students and alumni.
